Abraham departs with Ishmael and Hajar:
When Abraham awoke one morning, he instructed his wife Hajar to go grab their son and get ready for a lengthy journey. With his wife Hajar and son Ishmael, Abraham left in a short while. The infant had not yet been weaned and was still nursing. Abraham traveled across cultivated territory, the Arabian Peninsula's desert, and mountains until arriving at an uncultivated valley devoid of any fruit, trees, food, or water. There was no indication of life in the valley. Abraham left his wife and child with barely enough food and water to last them for two days after assisting them in getting off the horse. He turned around and walked away. He wife hurried after him asking: "Where are you going Abrahim, leaving us in this barren valley?"

Abraham did not respond to her and instead kept moving. She spoke again, but he made no further comment. She finally realized that he wasn't taking the initiative on his own. She understood that Allah had ordered him to act in this manner. Did Allah instruct you to do that, she questioned him. He acknowledged, "Yes." His wonderful wife then remarked, "We are not going to go lost since Allah, Who has instructed you, is with us.

Abraham prayed to the Almighty Allah as follows:
"Oh, my Lord! In order for them to offer prayers (Iqamat as salat) correctly, O our Lord, I have forced some of my descendants to live in an uncultivated valley near Your Sacred House (the Ka'ba in Mecca). May Allah fill some people's hearts with love for them, and grant them fruits so that they may express gratitude. Oh, Lord! You are aware of both the things we hide and the things we show. Nothing is hidden from Allah in the sky or on the earth. (Ch 14:37-38)

Ibn Abbas' narration of Hajar and Ishmael

The mother of Ishmael was the first woman to wear a girdle, according to Ibn Abbas' narration. She dragged a girdle behind her to obscure her movements from Sarah. She was nursing her son Ishmael when Abraham took them to a location close to the Kaba under a tree on the ZamZam site at the highest point of the mosque. He made them sit there and placed a leather bag containing some dates and a tiny water skin with some water nearby before leaving Mecca because there was no one there at the time and no water. His mother, Ishmael, followed him and said:

When he got to the Thaniya, where they couldn't see him, he turned to the Kaba and prayed to Allah while lifting both hands:

"Ishmael's mother went on nursing Ishmael and drinking from the water (she had) When the water in the water skin had been consumed, she became thirsty and her child also became thirsty," said Ibn Abbas' narrative. She looked about as she stood there hoping to see someone, but she was unable to. Seven times, she did that running between Safa and Marwa.

Hajar views the Prophet Muhammad's Zam-Zam

"This is the source of the tradition of the Sa'y (hajj, pilgrimage), the going of people between them (As-Safa and Al-Marwa," the prophet Muhammad (pbuh) remarked. She heard a voice when she arrived in Al Marwa (for the last time), so she asked herself to remain silent and paid close attention. Upon hearing the voice once more, she said, "O whoever you may! Have you got anything to aid me now that you've made me hear your voice? And look! She witnessed an angel digging the ground near Zam Zam with his heel (or his wing) until water began to flow from that location. With her hands, she began to form something akin to a basin around it. She then began to fill her water skin with water, and while the water was flowing out, she had scooped some of it. May Allah have mercy on Ishmael's mother, said the Prophet (pbuh). Zam-zam would have been a stream running on the earth's surface had she not scooped water from that source to fill her water skin or had she allowed the zam-zam to flow naturally without attempting to regulate it.

They dispatched one or two messengers, who found the water's source and came back to tell them about it. they all moved in the direction of the river. Mother of Ishmael was relaxing by the water. "Do you allow us to stay with you?" they enquired. Yes, but you won't have the right to own the water, she retorted. That was accepted by them. Ishmael's mother was happy with everything because she used to love to enjoy people's company. They moved there and then invited their families to join them, leading to some families settling there permanently. "Do you allow us to stay with you?" they enquired. She complained to him, "We are living in misery; we are living in hardship and destitution," in response to his question about their manner of life and their situation. When your husband comes home, please say hello to him and ask him to adjust the threshold of the gate to his house, he added.

Ishmael questioned his wife, "Has anyone visited you?" because he seemed to be experiencing an odd sensation. She responded, "Yes, an old man of such and such description came and asked me about you and I informed him and he asked about our state of living and I told him that we were living in a hardship and poverty." Ishmael reacted by asking, "Did he give you any advice?" "Yes, he told me to convey his greeting to you and to inform you to change the threshold of your gate," the woman replied. It was my father who gave me the order to divorce you, Ishmael remarked. Return home to your family. Ishmael consequently got a divorce from her and wed another one of their number (Jurhum).

We are affluent and well-off (we have everything in excess)," she retorted. And she thanked Allah. What kind of food do you eat, asked Abraham? She uttered: "Meat." 'What do you drink?' he enquired. She uttered: "Water." "O Allah!" he cried. Bless their food and drink.

I should go back and see the child's condition, she repeated to herself. However, she was startled by a voice and responded to it. If you can, please assist us. lo! Gabriel (the voice-maker) was responsible. Gabriel struck the ground with his heel in this manner (Ibn Abbas did the same to demonstrate), causing water to stream out. Undoubtedly, that was a clear test, and We freed him by offering a large sacrifice (a ram); in addition, We left for him (a goodly memory) among future generations. Islam says, "Salamun (peace) be upon Abraham!" Thus, We do recompense the Muhsineen (doers of good). He was in fact one of Our slaves who was a believer. (Qur'an, Ch. 37:99–111)

Time went by. One day, Abraham was contemplating the sacrifice made by Allah and his son Ishmael while sitting outside of his tent. His heart was overflowing with reverence and love for Allah for all of His mercies. He was reminded of Ishmael as a large tear fell from his eyes.

Gabriel, Israphael, and Michael were among the three angels who later came to earth. They saluted Abraham as they appeared in human form. Abraham stood up and greeted them. They entered his tent under the impression that he was hosting visitors and strangers. After seating them and ensuring their comfort, he took leave to attend to his people.

When he entered, Sarah, his wife, got up. She was now elderly and had white hair. We have three strangers in the house, Abraham told her. She questioned, "Who are they?" A calf was grilled and served by the servants. Abraham invited the angels to supper and then he began to eat to comfort them. While speaking, he realized that none of his guests had touched the food when he looked at them to make sure they were all eating. "Are you not going to eat?" he asked them. He picked up his meal again, but as he looked over, he noticed that they had not yet eaten. They did not grab for the meal with their hands. They started to scare him.

Abraham became more anxious. However, the angels were able to understand his inner thoughts, and one of them said the words, "Do not fear." Indeed, I am afraid, Abraham said, raising his head in response. When I ask you to eat, you do not extend your hands to do so. Do you mean to harm me?

We don't eat, one of the angels said with a smile. We are angels of Allah. One of them turned to face his wife and informed her of the good news regarding Isaac (Ishaaq).

"Verily! Abraham received good news from Our Messengers who had just arrived. He responded, "Salaam (greetings or peace)!" as they wished him well. and he quickly provided them with a roasted calf to amuse them. However, when he noticed that their hands were away from it (the meal), he developed a sense of suspicion and terror for them. "Fear not, we have been sent against the people of Lot," they proclaimed. And as his wife watched, she either laughed because the Messengers did not consume their food or because she was pleased with the demise of Lot's people. However, We brought her good news about Isaac and, later, about Jacob.
She exclaimed (astonished): "Woe betide me! Should I have a child now that I'm an old woman and my hubby is also old? Verily! It's strange, this. Do you question Allah's decree, they asked? Be blessed and may Allah's mercy be upon you, family of Abraham. He (Allah) is undoubtedly All-Praiseworthy and All-Glorious. (CH 11:69-73).
