Description of the Sodomian Population- সোডোমিয়ান জনসংখ্যার বর্ণনা
Prophet Abraham (PBUH) traveled to the city of Sodom (Sadum), which was located on the western shore of the Dead Sea, after leaving Egypt with his nephew Lut (PBUH).
There was a lot of evil in this city. Its inhabitants slaughtered, robbed, and misled tourists. Men having sex with other men rather than women was another vice that they shared. Later on, this abnormal behavior was referred to as "sodomy" (after the city of Sodom). It was openly and shamelessly practiced.
হযরত ইব্রাহীম (আঃ) তাঁর ভাতিজা লুত (আঃ) কে নিয়ে মিশর ত্যাগ করার পর মৃত সাগরের পশ্চিম তীরে অবস্থিত সদোম (সাদুম) শহরে যান।

When these crimes and misdeeds reached their peak, Allah revealed to Prophet Lot (PBUH) that he should call on the populace to repent of their immoral practices, but they were so ingrained in them that they were oblivious to Lot's preaching. Even when Lot warned them of Allah's wrath, they were so engulfed in their unnatural cravings that they were unable to pay attention. Instead, if he continued to preach, they threatened to expel him from the city.

When their brother Lot asked them, "Will you not fear Allah and obey Him?," the people of Lot—those who lived in the Palestinian towns of Sodom—belied the messengers. Verily! To you, I am a reliable Messenger. Therefore, respect Allah, do as He commands, and obey me. My reward comes only from the Lord of the Alamin (humankind, jinn, and all that exists); I do not expect any compensation from you in exchange for it (my Message of Islamic Monotheism). Do you go in with the Alamin (mankind's males) and abandon the women Allah intended for you to be your wives? Nay, you are a trespassing people!" They cried out, "If you don't stop, O Lot! Undoubtedly, you will be expelled along with others.

I am among those who strongly disapprove of your (this immoral) activity (of sodomy), HE declared. Oh, Lord! Save my family and I from their actions.

Therefore, all of his family members were saved, with the exception of an elderly woman (this wife), who remained behind. (Qur'an, Ch. 26:160–171)

His heart was broken by Lot's people's actions. While he battled them, their unwholesome reputation spread across the country. He persisted in his objective over the years, but to no success. Only the members of his family responded to his call and expressed belief, and even among his family, not everyone did. Like Noah's wife, Lot's wife was an atheist.

Allah, the All-Powerful, said:
"Allah used the wives of Noah and Lot as examples for those who do not believe. They were under the supervision of two of Our righteous slaves, but because Noah & Lut disobeyed their husbands' doctrines, they did not benefit their respective wives against Allah and it was decreed: "Enter the Fire along with those who enter!" (Quran, Ch. 66:10)
সর্বশক্তিমান আল্লাহ বলেছেন:

If a person's house is supposed to be a haven of solace and rest, Lut was tormented both inside and outside of it. He endured intense suffering and constant torment throughout his life, but he never lost patience or loyalty for his people. Years passed and no one had come to believe in him. Instead, they mocked him and insulted his message, saying, "If you are one of the truthful, bring Allah's Torment upon us!" (Qur'an Ch 29:29).

Lot appealed to Allah in his despair for victory and the annihilation of the corrupt. As a result, the angels departed Abraham (pbuh) and traveled to Lut's hometown of Sodom. In the late afternoon, they arrived at the town's walls. Lot's daughter, who was sitting by the river and filling her jug with water, was the first person to notice them. She was astounded to discover that there were guys of such wonderful beauty on earth as she lifted her face to look at them.

Lot hurried to his guests as he felt distressed. He enquired about their origins and destinations. They did not respond to his inquiries. As an alternative, they requested his hospitality. He struck up a conversation with them and explained the character of his people to them. Lot was in a state of stress because he wanted to extend the anticipated hospitality that is usually extended to guests while also persuading his guests—without offending them—not to spend the night there. He made unsuccessful attempts to explain the dangerous situation to them. Finally, he asked them to wait until nightfall because no one would be able to see them then.

Lot led his visitor to his house as night set upon the town. There was no one who was aware of them. However, as soon as Lot's wife observed them, she secretly left the home so that no one would notice. She broke the word quickly to her people, and it quickly traveled across the entire community like wildfire. Quickly and excitedly, the people surged towards Lot. When they learned they were his guests, Lot was taken aback. and he questioned who might have told them. But when he could not locate his wife anywhere, adding insult to injury, the situation became evident.

Lot locked the door to his house when he saw the mob approaching, but they continued to pound on it. He begged them to stay away from the visitors and be afraid of Allah's wrath. He advised them to have sex with their spouses because Allah had made that acceptable.
লোট তার বাড়ির দরজায় তালা দিয়েছিলেন যখন তিনি দেখেছিলেন যে জনতা এগিয়ে আসছে, কিন্তু তারা এটিতে মারতে থাকে। তিনি তাদেরকে দর্শনার্থীদের থেকে দূরে থাকতে এবং আল্লাহর গজব থেকে ভয় পেতে অনুরোধ করেন। তিনি তাদের স্ত্রীদের সাথে সহবাস করার পরামর্শ দিয়েছিলেন কারণ আল্লাহ তা গ্রহণযোগ্য করেছেন।
After Lot's little speech was through, his followers waited before bursting into hysterics. They destroyed the door while being blinded by emotion. Lot grew furious, but he was helpless in the face of these aggressive people. Although he was powerless to stop the mistreatment of his guests, he steadfastly maintained his position and persisted in pleading with the crowd.

He wished he had the ability to force them away from his visitors at that horrible moment. Upon observing Lot in his position of helplessness and despair, the guests remarked, "Do not be anxious or frightened, Lot for we are angels, and these people will not harm you." After learning this, the mob ran from Lot's home in terror while yelling threats at him. Prophet Lut (pbuh) was told by the angels to leave his home before dawn, taking with him everyone of his family but his wife. The destruction of the city of Sodom was ordered by Allah. The town felt the tremor. It appeared as though a powerful force had suddenly lifted the entire city and thrown it to the ground. Stones showered down on the city like a hurricane. Everyone and everything, including Lot's wife, was destroyed.

Abraham Meets the Angels- আব্রাহাম ফেরেশতাদের সাথে দেখা করেন
Allah the Almighty related the following account:
"And tell them about Abraham's visitors (angels. When they approached him, they greeted him with "Salaaman (peace)!" Indeed, Abraham exclaimed. You have made us nervous.
আল্লাহ পরাক্রমশালী নিম্নলিখিত বিবরণ সম্পর্কিত:

"Do not be afraid," they (the angels) commanded. We bring you good news of a child (son) who is wise and knowledgeable. "Do you give me happy news (of a son) when old age has overtaken me?" said Abraham. What is your news, then? They (the angels) said: "We truly bring you good news. Therefore, do not join the dejected.

Abraham said: "And who despairs of the Mercy of his Lord except those who are astray?" (Abraham again) said: "What then is the business on which you have come, O Messengers?" They (the angels) said: "We have been sent to a people who are Mujrimeen (criminals, disbeliveers, polytheists, sinners). (All) except the family of Lot. Them all we are surely going to save (from destruction)."
ইব্রাহীম (আঃ) বললেনঃ আর কে তার পালনকর্তার রহমত থেকে নিরাশ হয় যারা পথভ্রষ্ট? (আবার) ইবরাহীম (আঃ) বললেনঃ হে রসূলগণ, তোমরা যে কাজে এসেছ তা কিসের? তারা (ফেরেশতারা) বলল: "আমাদেরকে এমন এক সম্প্রদায়ের কাছে পাঠানো হয়েছে যারা মুজরিমিন (অপরাধী, কাফের, মুশরিক, পাপী)। (সবাই) লূতের পরিবার ব্যতীত। আমরা অবশ্যই তাদের সবাইকে (ধ্বংস থেকে) রক্ষা করব। "
Except his wife, of whom We have decreed that she shall be of the those who remain behind (she will be destroyed).
তার স্ত্রী ব্যতীত, যার সম্পর্কে আমি ফয়সালা করেছি যে, সে হবে পেছনের লোকদের অন্তর্ভুক্ত (সে ধ্বংস হয়ে যাবে)।
Then, when the Messengers (the angels) arrived at Lot's family, he exclaimed, "Truly! You are people I don't know. They said, "No! They have been doubting the (torment) we have brought to you. And we've told you the truth—that your country is being destroyed—and we always speak the truth. Then, when traveling through the night with your family, you should follow them in the rear and not turn around to look back. Instead, keep moving forward in the direction that has been given to you.
অতঃপর যখন রসূলগণ (ফেরেশতাগণ) লূতের পরিবারের কাছে উপস্থিত হলেন, তখন তিনি চিৎকার করে বললেন, "সত্যি! তোমরা এমন লোক যাদের আমি চিনি না। তারা বললো, "না! তারা সন্দেহ পোষণ করছে যে (আযাব) আমি তোমার কাছে নিয়ে এসেছি। এবং আমরা আপনাকে সত্য বলেছি - যে আপনার দেশ ধ্বংস হচ্ছে - এবং আমরা সর্বদা সত্য কথা বলি। তারপরে, আপনার পরিবারের সাথে রাতে ভ্রমণ করার সময়, আপনার উচিত তাদের পিছনে অনুসরণ করা এবং পিছনে ফিরে তাকানো নয়। পরিবর্তে, আপনাকে যে দিকটি দেওয়া হয়েছে সেদিকে এগিয়ে যেতে থাকুন।
And We revealed to him the decree that the sinners' roots would be severed in the early hours of the day.

Upon hearing of the young men's arrival, the city's residents came celebrating. Lot remarked, "Truly! Don't make fun of me; these are my guests. And do not humiliate me; fear Allah. Did we not forbid you to entertain (or defend) any of the Alamin (people, foreigners, strangers, etc.) from us, they (the city's residents) asked? These (the country's girls) are my daughters to marry lawfully if you must act so, Lot remarked.
যুবকদের আগমনের কথা শুনে শহরের বাসিন্দারা আনন্দে মেতে ওঠেন। লূত মন্তব্য করলেন, "সত্যিই! আমাকে ঠাট্টা করবেন না; এরা আমার অতিথি। এবং আমাকে অপমান করবেন না, আল্লাহকে ভয় করুন। আমরা কি তোমাদেরকে আলামীন (মানুষ, বিদেশী, অপরিচিত) কাউকে আপ্যায়ন (বা রক্ষা) করতে নিষেধ করিনি? ইত্যাদি) আমাদের কাছ থেকে, তারা (শহরের বাসিন্দারা) জিজ্ঞাসা করলেন? এরা (দেশের মেয়েরা) আমার মেয়েরা বৈধভাবে বিয়ে করবে, যদি আপনি তাই করেন, লট মন্তব্য করেন।
Indeed, by your life (O Muhammad), they were walking aimlessly while intoxicated. So at dawn, As Saliha (torment, terrible cry, etc.) overcame them. We then turned (the towns of Sodom in Palestine) upside-down and showered cooked clay stones down upon them. Surely! This contains indications for those who can see (or comprehend) them and draw lessons from them. Indeed, the cities are situated directly on the main thoroughfare that runs from Mecca to Syria, or from the location of the Dead Sea to Syria. Surely! Therein lies, in fact, a sign for the faithful. (Qur'an, Ch. 15:51–77)
নিঃসন্দেহে আপনার জীবনের শপথ (হে মুহাম্মাদ) তারা নেশাগ্রস্ত অবস্থায় উদ্দেশ্যহীনভাবে চলছিল। তাই ভোরবেলা, আস্ সালিহা (আযাব, ভয়ানক কান্না ইত্যাদি) তাদের কাবু করেছিল। আমরা তখন (ফিলিস্তিনের সদোম শহরগুলিকে) উল্টে দিয়েছিলাম এবং তাদের উপর রান্না করা মাটির পাথর বর্ষণ করেছিলাম। নিশ্চয়ই! এতে তাদের জন্য ইঙ্গিত রয়েছে যারা তাদের দেখতে (বা বুঝতে) পারে এবং তাদের থেকে শিক্ষা নিতে পারে। প্রকৃতপক্ষে, শহরগুলি সরাসরি মূল রাস্তার উপর অবস্থিত যা মক্কা থেকে সিরিয়া বা মৃত সাগরের অবস্থান থেকে সিরিয়া পর্যন্ত চলে। নিশ্চয়ই! এতে নিহিত রয়েছে, প্রকৃতপক্ষে, ঈমানদারদের জন্য নিদর্শন। (কোরআন, খ. 15:51-77)
Additionally, Allah the Exalted said:
So, all of him and his family were spared, with the exception of an elderly woman (his wife), who was left behind. The others were later annihilated by us. We poured a downpour of suffering onto them. How terrible the rain was for those who had received a warning. Undoubtedly, this is a sign, yet the majority of them do not believe. Your Lord is, in fact, the All-Mighty and the Most Merciful. (Qur'an, Ch. 26:170–175)
উপরন্তু, মহান আল্লাহ বলেন:
তাই, একজন বয়স্ক মহিলা (তাঁর স্ত্রী) ব্যতীত তাকে এবং তার পরিবারের সবাইকে রক্ষা করা হয়েছিল, যাকে রেখে যাওয়া হয়েছিল। বাকিরা পরে আমাদের দ্বারা নিশ্চিহ্ন হয়ে যায়। আমরা তাদের উপর কষ্টের বর্ষণ ঢেলে দিলাম। যারা সতর্কবার্তা পেয়েছিলেন তাদের জন্য বৃষ্টি কতটা ভয়ানক ছিল। নিঃসন্দেহে, এটি একটি নিদর্শন, তবুও তাদের অধিকাংশই বিশ্বাস করে না। প্রকৃতপক্ষে তোমার প্রভু সর্বশক্তিমান ও পরম করুণাময়। (কোরআন, খৃ. 26:170-175)
Lot's Post-Sodom Life- লোটের পোস্ট-সোডম জীবন
The chapter on Lot's (pbuh) people was drawn to a close. Their hometowns and names have vanished from the map. They are no longer in my memories. One corruption-related book was closed. Abraham (pbuh) was approached by Lot (pbuh). He went to see him, and when he told Abraham (pbuh) the tale of his people, he was shocked to discover that he already knew. Thus, Lut (pbuh) and Abraham (pbuh), the patient one who turned to Allah in repentance, both continued to extend invitations to Allah and remained steadfast in their duty.
লুত (আঃ) এর লোকদের অধ্যায়টি সমাপ্ত হয়েছিল। তাদের নিজ শহর এবং নাম মানচিত্র থেকে অদৃশ্য হয়ে গেছে। সেগুলো আর আমার স্মৃতিতে নেই। দুর্নীতি-সংক্রান্ত একটি বই বন্ধ হয়ে গেছে। ইব্রাহীম (আঃ) লুত (আঃ) এর কাছে এসেছিলেন। তিনি তাকে দেখতে গেলেন, এবং যখন তিনি ইব্রাহীম (আ.)-কে তার সম্প্রদায়ের গল্প বললেন, তখন তিনি অবাক হয়ে গেলেন যে তিনি ইতিমধ্যেই জানতেন। এভাবে, লুত (আঃ) এবং ইব্রাহীম (আঃ), ধৈর্যশীল ব্যক্তি যিনি অনুতপ্ত হয়ে আল্লাহর দিকে ফিরেছিলেন, উভয়েই আল্লাহর দিকে আমন্ত্রণ জানাতে থাকলেন এবং তাদের কর্তব্যে অবিচল ছিলেন।
